Most of this CD consists of the fine recordings originally made on vinyl LP by the Danish harpsichordist Ulla Kappel in 1986, as part of a series of forthcoming historic Danish recordings. Kappel plays Buxtehude’s Suites in A major and D minor, as well as variations on Courent Zimble, Rofilis, Auf meinen lieben Gott and La Capricciosa in a highly fluent and convincing style. The ‘bonus tracks’ consist of previously unreleased recordings made in 1984 by the great organist János Sebestyén, who plays Pasquini’s Bergamasca, Martini’s Gavotte, and Bach’s Pastorale (BWV 590). These are excellent performances, very well engineered for CD.
