Here is a perfect example of player and organ both in perfect harmony with the music chosen. The Andreas Silbermann organ was restored in 2015 and sounds superb throughout, with a lovely temperament that suits this programme well. Jérôme Mondésert understands this music so well, and his technique is so good, that you are not really aware of it, as the music speaks so eloquently. Two works by Walther and Böhm open the programme, the remainder mostly early works of Bach. Much of the programme is played on quieter and subtle registrations, showing offthe beauty of this organ. Trio Sonata no.6 is given a fine performance: lively sparkling outer movements, never rushed, and lovely limpid flutes in the Lento. The programme ends with the splendid organo pleno in the early BWV 531. Highly recommended.
