Jean Richafort wrote a remarkably inventive Requiem in memory of Josquin and it features on a cunningly compiled disc of tributes from his contemporaries, including Gombert’s sonorous Musae Jovis, from The King’s Singers. Here is plangent, mellifluous, pellucid, untroubled and restrained singing of the highest order which is quite the best thing I have heard from them in recent years.
