After six years, Pascal Rogé reaches the final volume of his Debussy cycle, joined by his wife Ami for the two-piano and four-hand works. This considered approach certainly pays off, even in comparison with Rogé’s excellent Decca recordings. Here there is spaciousness, an evocation of colour and character, a seemingly effortless precision in the duo works that put this in the front rank of Debussy. As was even more apparent in the previous volume, the Etudes, virtuosity is ‘there’ without a sense it is being displayed.
